South Carolina's State newspaper: Reduced to a glorified litterbug

Update 8/26/2019 - This matter seems to have been due to automated responses I received by submitting my request through the State newspaper's website. I finally contacted them by phone, and the supplement has apparently been discontinued. Otherwise, my remarks stand as stated. 8/29/2019 update - Spoke too soon, the supplement is being delivered again effective yesterday morning. None arrived last week after my phone call, so I thought the State had gotten the message. Perhaps this matter will have to be resolved in small claims court. 9/16/2019 - small claims court won't work, it has to be an individual - not a company - doing the harassing in order to get a restraining order. Meanwhile, I've learned that dislike of the State's supplements is rampant and not being able to get delivery stopped is a common problem. Just another out-of-control corporation making life in this little rat-hole of a country miserable for consumers. As Dr. Paul Craig Roberts says in this article, "Life in America has become a gut-wrenching, soul-sucking, misery-drenched, demoralizing existence."

Update 10/4/2019 - Don't bother complaining to the SC Dept. of Consumer Affairs, a worthless agency that functions primarily to provide cushy jobs for select South Carolinians at taxpayer expense. I couldn't even get the little corporate stooge's website to work, so I sent 'em an e-mail and finally got a reply but the info they sent didn't work either, so I replied with a link to this post.

If there's anything Amerika's corrupt power structure hates, it's a consumer who can't be suckered into buying unnecessary products. Some of the best examples of such products are newspapers, telephones (landline and cell), and home Internet, especially when you're already paying for Internet via taxes and have a nearby library that offers Internet access.

I've saved gobs of money by not subscribing to any newspaper, not having a phone, and riding my bicycle to the library to use a computer. I blogged about my efforts to get the State newspaper to quit delivering McClatchy supplements, but the game continues with the State looking more vindictive (I cancelled my subscription in 2005) each time another supplement is deposited on my property. Lately, whoever delivers the supplements has been exchanging the one I leave in the driveway for the latest edition of CAROLINAS FOOD. Two down, one to go for McClatchy supplements, with the EXTRA and YES biting the dust as requested.

The good news is that such harassment is taking place on the State's nickle. The State doesn't have any better sense than to pay to make fools of themselves. From the get-go, the State newspaper has been a useless rag, a mouthpiece for South Carolina's - and Amerika's - corrupt power structure. The situation also gives me an opportunity to expose the State's ridiculous behavior.

As for the State's biased "news" coverage, Dr. Paul Craig Roberts sums things up admirably in his 6/06/2019 article, "The State of the Economy," writing that "In brief, you can believe nothing you are officially told. If you desire truth, you must support the websites that are committed to truth." Dr. Roberts' take on the economy, incidentally, being truth-based, is quite at odds with the garbage you'll find in the State newspaper. I'm gonna start advising people to cancel their newspaper subscriptions and donate a significant percentage of the savings to Dr. Roberts' website. That's what I've been doing.

The State is no longer South Carolina's largest newspaper, giving the top spot to Charleston's Post and Courier. This "Age of the Internet" has apparently taken it's toll.

Perhaps the State is as incompetent as ever, and simply can't stop the CAROLINAS FOOD supplement from being delivered to my home. I can't for the life of me figure out why it should take "approximately two weeks" (see 5/24/2019 update to previous post) for the State to stop delivering a supplement to my home. Point is, it's now been well OVER two weeks - it's been more like two months - since I first requested cancellation.

Market conditions have turned the State newspaper into a glorified litterbug. Meanwhile, my savings continue to increase, totaling in the vicinity of almost $2,000 since I cancelled. I don't miss the State newspaper at all, and would sure rather have the money than expose myself to the brain-rot of such a lousy publication.

Go ahead, State newspaper. Waste what's left of your time, money, and salaries. In other words, make my day.

Update 6/14/2019 - Looks like "The State" finally got the message - I sure hope so. No supplements were tossed in my yard yesterday. Woops - spoke too soon. Delivery has resumed.

Hey, State newspaper: Quit trashing my yard with McClatchy supplements

Meanwhile, I've learned that dislike of the State's supplements is rampant and not being able to get delivery stopped is an all-too-common problem. Just another out-of-control corporation making life in Amerika (sic) miserable for consumers.

One of the best things I ever did was cancelling my subscription to the State newspaper. In a society where mainstream media is a mouthpiece for government propaganda, only fools subscribe to newspapers, especially in this age of the Internet. It hasn't been as good as allowing thug goon AT&T to disconnect my home phone (landline - I've never had a cell) due to robocalls and a bill I didn't owe 'em, along with my home Internet (I now use a computer at the library) but even so...

I made the mistake of continuing McClatchy supplements, which I never read, but figured I might use for catching the cleaner when I clean my bicycle. Even that proved unnecessary, so I repeatedly asked the State to cancel delivery of all supplements. Things went well with the YES and EXTRA, but CAROLINAS FOOD supplement continues to clutter up my yard. Last time it was deposited, I put two of the ones I had already received alongside it, and the newest one disappeared, leaving me to discard the other two. A similar thing happened at least once before, so no surprise.

The State would be well advised to put some energy into investigative reporting 'stead of cluttering up people's yards with their unwanted junk. An excellent starter would be for 'em to warn the public that a time limit has been quietly placed on wills as part of an ongoing probate racket that got underway in 1986, but I'm sure that would be asking way too much.

I'll send the State a link to this post hoping that will at least help me with yard-work.

Update 5/24/2019 - Below is a copy of the reply I received from the State newspaper, and I'm hoping for the best. Meanwhile, the following Wednesday another CAROLINAS FOOD supplement was tossed on my driveway.

Dear Parris Boyd,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We have sent a follow up
request to the distribution team to have this stopped however it may
take approximately two weeks for delivery to be cancelled. We do take
your request seriously and will honor your wishes. If you have any
questions or concerns, please contact us at 1-800-888-3566.

Same-sex "marriage" propped up by the LGBTQQIAAP gang's psychotic agenda

"Mr. Zimmerman had a Great Dane with which he occasionally had sex, but it died four months ago. He now lives with his similarly zoophilic boyfriend and their Dalmatian." - New York Times

The LGBTQQIAAP gang epitomizes a house of cards propped up by one lie after another. Sheer, unbridled nonsense that has turned homosexuality into a fad as this sex-obsessed, STD-infested society proves foolish enough to look to the homosexual community for leadership.

The LGBTQQIAAP gang's fundamental lie revolves around promoting same-sex "marriage" as a "civil right," and necessitates more lies in order to prop up the sham. Distinctions between male and female (segregation) must be blurred or eliminated because such distinctions pose a threat to the gang's absurd "civil rights" analogy. So the LGBTQQIAAP gang's psychotic agenda necessarily includes blabber about men being able to choose to be women and women being able to choose to be men. Sanity is reduced to an Orwellian never-never land where men are viewed as "not necessarily men" and women are viewed as "not necessarily women." Stir in the gang's demand for unisex public restrooms and locker rooms (schools are a prime target), etc. ad nauseum. The gang conceals its ridiculous agenda by using the deceitfully abbreviated LGBT (with an occasional Q thrown in for good measure). The additional letters will be publicized as a brain-dead American public is gradually "conditioned" to accept what promises to be a never-ending parade of linguistic garbage. The gang's latest affront to sanity is the assertion that a change in sexual behavior isn't necessarily a change in sexual orientation. Such a notion is as indefensible as claiming rape is not about sex. By the LGBTQQIAAP gang's convoluted "logic," the intrinsic nature of reason itself is ultimately presented as unreliable.

The creepy, bullying nature of the LGBTQQIAAP gang cannot be overestimated. In Massachusetts, schools must now accept whatever gender a child chooses, and it took a public referendum to defeat the gang's demand for unisex public restrooms in Fayettville, Arkansas. Realizing that its agenda can't stand the light of day, the gang has been less vocal on the national level in its demand for unisex public restrooms. Propaganda spewed to a brain-dead public is the gang's best friend. Free speech is the gang's worst enemy. It's no accident that an openly homosexual legislator in Alabama is blackmailing other legislators if they dare to criticize homosexuality. In my case, speaking truth has gotten my remarks censored and participation in discussions banned by local television station WLTX News 19 on their Facebook page. My "crime" was consistently referring to "LGBTQQIAAP" and pointing out that the gang's demand for unisex public restrooms - especially in schools - is all the more ill-advised for a society struggling to contain an epidemic of child sex-abuse.

The direction things are headed is painfully obvious. Germany - a world leader in the promotion of homosexuality - has now seen the world's first pro-bestiality demo, and a German man is officially claiming he has a "civil right" to have sex with his dog. In Denmark - another leading aficionado of homosexuality - bestiality brothels are both popular and legal. In America, polygamy has been legalized in Utah, and a teenager is proudly declaring - as the LGBTQQIAAP gang promotes incest by blabbering about "Genetic Sexual Attraction" - her intent to marry her biological father. Of course, one of the LGBTQQIAAP gang's favorite techniques is to deceitfully howl that homosexuality is "different" from sexual perversions such as bestiality and pedofilia. In so doing, the gang feigns ignorance of the obvious fact that the common denominator linking homosexuality to other forms of sexual perversion is the discarding of traditional sexual norms.

Nationally franchised Planet Fitness gym has joined forces with the LGBTQQIAAP gang by cancelling a woman's membership after she complained about a man in the women's locker room. Use of the men's or women's locker room is dependent - under Planet Earth's Orwellian banner "judgement free zone" - on a person's "sincerely self-reported gender identity," and the "transexual" in the locker room claimed to be a woman. This headline-grabbing story may signal the beginning of a high-profile effort to force national acceptance of unisex public restrooms and locker rooms. And don't be shocked if it turns out the no frills, exceptionally-low-priced-membership "gym" is funded by special interests, both public and private.

As things now stand, the next "new normal" is anyone's guess. Stay tuned as the LGBTQQIAAP gang dupes gullible Americans into accepting most anything imaginable.

Update 3/15/2015 - Notice how USA Today promotes the absurd notion of "Genetic Sexual Attraction" in this article about the teenager planning to marry her father. Presstitute mainstream media is the LGBTQQIAAP gang's primary tool for spreading lies.

Update 3/16/2015 - The branch of the LGBTQQIAAP gang that most likely played a major role in Massachusetts' schools now having to accept the gender a child "chooses," identifies itself as GLSEN. I wonder how many Americans are aware of GLSEN instructing school children how to perform various homosexual techniques, including the practice of "fisting." GLSEN has been infiltrating schools for many years via Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) clubs.

Update 3/18/2015 - Columbia, South Carolina resident Heather Barwick - raised by lesbians - is speaking out against same-sex "marriage," and the LGBTQQIAAP gang - epitomized by Yahoo "Parenting" - is throwing its usual tantrum when anyone dares to expose a few unpleasant facts about the gang's inane "lifestyle." Be sure to click the link to Heather's SUPERB essay - she speaks SO admirably for her many peers. While Americans are making sure they don't offend members of the LGBTQQIAAP gang, maybe they should exercise some compassion and common sense regarding the helpless, hapless children subjected to these so-called "marriages." Of course, most homosexuals were raised by heterosexuals and have no concept of that it's like to be raised in a same-sex "marriage." The homosexual community's lack of empathy is as obvious as it is repulsive.

Update 3/20/2015 - South Carolina's mainstream media - most notably those in Columbia - musta not heard about Heather Barwick (see 3/18 update). Nuthin' like unbiased news coverage when it comes to the LGBTQQIAAP gang. Meanwhile, Heather is not alone in taking a stand: Other victims of "same-sex parenting" are also speaking out against same-sex "marriage," and those who dare to do so are being BULLIED by the LGBTQQIAAP gang. Victims have had enough of the gang's bullying and are producing a book about their experiences. Stay tuned.

Update 3/22/2015 - Homosexuals themselves are now speaking out against subjecting children to same-sex "parenting." Two world famous fashion designers - Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana - are being supported by an open letter from Heather and several of her peers.

Update 3/23/2015 - Regarding GLSEN and its Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) clubs in schools (see 3/16 update), I came across this story of an Irmo, South Carolina high school principal who resigned back in 2008 rather than be bullied into approving such a club. Hooray for Mr. Walker, and at this point, nobody should be surprised that WIS-TV "neglected" to expose GLSEN's teaching schoolchildren homosexual techniques. If Americans are lame-brained and cowardly enough to allow the LGBTQQIAAP gang to run their public schools, so be it.

Update 11/17/2015 - The LGBTQQIAAP gang is now demanding "unisex" public restrooms at the University of South Carolina. Depend on "news leaders" like WIS and WLTX to provide biased coverage favoring the homosexual community.

Update 5/11/2016 - Texans are waking up to the LGBTQQIAAP gang's psychotic agenda. Students "can no longer use the terms 'boy' and 'girl' and must abandon gender references..."

Update 6/3/2016 - 5/31/2016 article by Rachel Lu offers an apt summary: A time of collective insanity, the LGBTQQIAAP movement will self-destruct.

Update 1/28/2017 - A German sociologist, Gabriele Kuby, has dared to publish a book, appropriately titled "The Global Sexual Revolution: Destruction of Freedom in the Name of Freedom."

Update 2/4/2017 - The LGBTQQIAAP gang's war on sanity further exemplified as the British Medical Association now instructs doctors to use the term "pregnant people" instead of "expectant mothers."

WLTX censors criticism of the LGBTQQIAAP gang's demand for unisex public restrooms

WIS News 10 has now joined forces with WLTX - and the LGBTQQIAAP gang - in removing my comments. As I've said, the LGBTQQIAAP  gang's worst enemy is free speech.

Let's get a few things straight: I couldn't care less what consenting adults do to each other in private. I do care about free speech and a free press.

Columbia, South Carolina's WLTX News19 recently published a post on Facebook referencing the day's breaking news of a child sex-ring orchestrated by a former reserve deputy with the Richland County Sheriff's Department. Stories of a similar nature have been popping up with ever-increasing frequency as America rushes to discard traditional sexual norms.

I posted a comment critical of looking to the LGBTQQIAAP gang for leadership, especially the gang's ongoing demand for unisex public restrooms in schools. Quoting as close to verbatim as I can recall, here's what I wrote: "Yes, America obviously needs to look to the LGBTQQIAAP gang for leadership. QUICK: Give in to the gang's demand for unisex public restrooms, especially in schools." WLTX removed the comment and banned me from posting comments on their Facebook page.

I'm appalled by WLTX's attitude toward free speech. To the best of my knowledge, similar comments I've been posting on similar articles published by other local news organizations have never been removed, nor has any local media ever banned me from posting comments.

"Similar comments I've been posting" probably holds the key to understanding WLTX's high-handed response. Most Americans who question the wisdom of discarding traditional sexual norms have been bullied into silence by the onslaught of pro-homosexual propaganda, which adds insult to injury by frequently ridiculing anyone who dares to express a different point of view. Then there's those online attacks - often anonymous - hurling every insult imaginable in an effort to intimidate anyone who speaks out against the LGBTQQIAAP gang's agenda. Underscoring the utter contempt for free speech, a homosexual legislator in Alabama is now openly blackmailing legislators in an effort to prevent them from speaking out against homosexuality. Americans have been both brainwashed and bullied into a cowardly acceptance of sheer absurdity. Obvious even to the most casual observer is the fact that the LGBTQQIAAP gang is at odds with the fundamental human right of free speech.

The issue of unisex public restrooms strikes at the heart of the LGBTQQIAAP gang's absurd agenda. Without unisex public restrooms, the "civil rights" argument falls apart, a fact the gang is acutely aware of. Someone daring to speak out against unisex public restrooms poses a fundamental threat to the gang's overall agenda, not to mention someone exposing that agenda by referring to the gang in its repulsive entirety as opposed to the intentionally misleading abbreviation "LGBT".

I take special pleasure in exposing "news" organizations when they affront free speech. WLTX is a long-time local wannabe whose overall news ratings never made it to the front of the pack, even after hiring weatherman Jim Gandy from the Columbia area's undisputed leader, WIS News 10. Imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery, but WLTX missed the better point. News leaders don't remove comments and ban people from participating in discussions unless there's exceptionally good reason. News stations with integrity are sensitive to free speech issues, and their policies reflect the fact.

Get with it, WLTX. Attempting to bully people into silence is a bad idea.

Update 2/4/2015 - I e-mailed WLTX the link to this blog post, and I've been using Facebook and Twitter to spread the word about the station's unwarranted censorship. WLTX - which touts itself as being "On Your Side" - refuses to even acknowledge receipt of my e-mail.

Update 2/22/2015 - As the LGBTQQIAAP gang demands unisex public restrooms, especially in schools, there's evidence galore that America's sex-obsessed society is rapidly spinning out of control. Another child sex-ring has been exposed - this time in Minnesota - and two recent cases involving teenagers sexually abusing young children underscore the sorry state of affairs. In South Carolina, a 14-yr-old girl filmed a toddler performing a sex act on her, and in Georgia, a 17-yr-old boy admitted to sexually abusing two children under ten, "forcefully and against their will." This month in Arkansas, a man filmed a woman and her toddler using a public restroom, and it's noteworthy that the citizens of Fayetteville, Arkansas recently voted down the LGBTQQIAAP gang's demand for unisex public restrooms.

Update 2/23/2015 -
> My Facebook posts exposing WLTX News19' unwarranted censorship are now being blocked from appearing in real-time, and Twitter is blocking my tweets to WLTX from appearing on my profile page. WLTX and its friends can't stand the truth.
> Easy to see why WLTX and their friends in the LGBTQQIAAP gang are so hypersensitive to criticism. In South Carolina, yet another case of pedofilia made headlines today re a 33-yr-old "basketball coach" and a 15-yr-old victim. Facebook comments include the usual blabber implying that such relationships are harmless. As foolish Americans look to the LGBTQQIAAP gang for "leadership" and give in to the gang's demand for unisex public restrooms, especially in schools, don't be surprised if pedofilia becomes the next "new normal."
> Beyond demanding unisex public restrooms in schools, this article from today's headlines provides yet another example of how the LGBTQQIAAP gang forces its absurd "lifestyle" on children.

Update 2/25/2015 -
> As foolish Americans rush to discard traditional sexual norms and look to the LGBTQQIAAP gang for leadership, South Carolina is again in the headlines. Today's news features a 36-yr-old married (father of three) assistant high school principal charged with having a sexual relationship with a 16-yr-old female student.
> Yet ANOTHER case of pedofilia in South Carolina - 34-yr-old woman, 15-yr-old boy - has made today's headlines.

Update 3/5/2015 - Headlines this week feature child porn, once again involving a South Carolina cop who used to be with the Richland County Sheriff's Department. Totally irresponsible of WLTX to ban people who criticize the LGBTQQIAAP gang's demand for unisex public restrooms, especially in schools.

Update 3/9/2015 - Some folks are refusing to cower down as the LGBTQQIAAP gang demands unisex public restrooms and locker rooms. Note the gym's ridiculous policy of determining male or female by the way a person is dressed.

Paper blocks criticism of SC Highway Patrol

Update 9/24/2014 - One of the state's gang of glorified revenue agents shot an unarmed motorist - Levar Edward Jones - earlier this month. Lance Cpl. Sean Groubert was fired and has now been charged with assault and battery. Anyone other than a cop would have been charged with attempted murder. Shocking dash cam video and audio features the bewildered motorist asking why he was shot.

Update 9/27/2014 - We now learn that trooper Groubert was also caught on audio lying to his supervisor about what happened.

See more updates below this post.

I had it out with the State newspaper when they refused to report the bloodcurdling details surrounding the death of Marine recruit Jason Tharp. Got so mad I cancelled my subscription, trashed their newspaper box, and stopped submitting comments.

Enter a spate of egregious criminal misconduct and other eyebrow raising incidents by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. 2010 started off with a trooper busted for being part of a big grow-your-own marijuana business, using his cruiser to transport the stuff. The year ended with a trooper caught distributing cocaine - talk about patrolling the "high" way - and a DUI charge for an off duty trooper who had been drinking at a bar, drove through an intersection, and crashed into a wall. June of 2011, another trooper had been drinking at a bar, was being driven home, and from the moving vehicle suddenly started shooting into a residence. The following month, Homeland Security caught a trooper with thousands of photos of child porn, along with a number of photos he took of underage girls at Myrtle Beach.

2012 saw sentences handed down for the cocaine (three years), the marijuana (5 years), and the child porn (three years). Also this year, a former trooper pleaded guilty to February's armed robbery of a bank, and a trooper wrecked his cruiser - upside down, on fire, in a ditch - while endangering everyone on the road by chasing a motorcycle at speeds over 100 mph. In another incident, it's "unclear" if a trooper was wearing his seatbelt when he lost control of his cruiser and slammed into a tree. Further details - such as road conditions (likely wet) and how fast the trooper was going - were kept quiet. Questions remain regarding the Patrol's response - or lack thereof - to an apparent DUI involving a Sumter sheriff's deputy, and the investigation drags on regarding the death of a black, unarmed motorist shot twice in the chest during a traffic stop.

The Patrol has troublesome history galore - beyond the scope of this post - from the racially charged Orangeburg Massacre in 1968 to such heartwarming events as an off duty trooper robbing a gas station and the beating of a karate expert after he passively allowed a trooper to handcuff him. Videos show troopers slinging out the "n" word, using a cruiser to bump an unarmed black guy, and dragging an unarmed black female from her car, shoving her to the ground. A cadre of troopers got caught at a bar featuring topless entertainment, and a motorist called 911 to report what turned out to be an off duty trooper dressed like a woman, complete with bra and wig. The trooper refused a breathalyzer, failed a field sobriety test, and was charged with DUI. Prior to the 911 call, another trooper apparently identified the suspect and neglected to take action.

When news broke about the sentence for child porn, I made an exception to my policy of avoiding the State and posted the following comment:

"Police State USA's glorified revenue agents of the SCHP. Now we can add possession of child pornography along with cocaine distribution, DUI, marijuana distribution, no ticket for Lt. Gov. Bauer goin' 101 mph, no breathalyzer, charges or arrest for an apparently drunk as a skunk Sumter sheriff's deputy - narcotics division - and the list goes on ad nauseum. Its way past time for this taxpayer-funded gang to clean up its act."

The comment was removed, and resubmission prompted a "subject to moderation" message but no publication. Curiously, only three comments were displayed. One focused on computer technicalities and how crimes should be categorized. The other two toyed with feigned indignation regarding the attire of underaged girls at the beach.

Enough of online trolls and politically motivated censorship. Police misconduct is rampant all across America, and there's no excuse for mainstream media protecting these jack booted thugs from the public's justifiable outrage.

Update 8/29/2012 - I sent the State a copy of this post and published links to the post on Twitter and Facebook.

Update 10/18/2012 - It's turning out to be quite a year for South Carolina's state troopers. Last month, a trooper lost control of his vhicle, flipped upside down, and was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions. This month, a trooper was fired after his mistress called police and alleged that the trooper shook her and choked her when she ended a 12-year relationship. The ex-trooper has now been charged with assault and battery.

Update 12/3/2012 - Talk about disparity in sentencing. The troopers - talk about armed and dangerous - involved in big-time drug trafficking get sentences in the three to five year range, while "other folks" get sent away for 30 along with supervised release for life upon completion of the sentence.

Update 12/4/2012 - Bringin' things up to date for 2012, on Friday, November 30th, a trooper was arrested for disorderly conduct, and the following Sunday, a trooper allegedly hit three pedestrians in the wee hours of the morning and fled the scene. Charged accordingly, he has resigned. Whew. Too much to keep up with, and the year isn't over yet.

Update 3/11/2013 - Starting off a new year, the issue of racial profiling has again surfaced - in a big way - at the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Stay tuned.

Update 8/222014 - Lance Corporal R.S. Salter was fired after the trooper went berzerk while arresting an NFL player for a traffic violation.

Update 9/17/2014 - Troopers endangered everyone on the road by chasing a maniacle former cop - Howard Henry "Hank" Smith, Jr. - through traffic at speeds over 110 mph as the suspect fired shots. The SCHP is notorious for high speed pursuits, ignoring the horrific facts associated with such outrageous behavior. SMITH charged with attempted murder? If anyone ought to be charged with attempted murder, it's the gang of police state thugs.

Update 9/19/2014 - Trooper who had been with the department off and on for over 40 years was arrested for assaulting his wife and was charged with criminal domestic violence.

Update 4/3/2015 - The state's gang of glorified revenue agents is off to a spectacular start for 2015. The gang has ventured into narcotics distribution, which is no surprise considering the gang's rap sheet for cocaine and marijuana. We await further word on this latest episode of the gang's fascination with selling controlled substances.

Military rapes prompt censorship

Women serving in the U.S. military are now more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed in combat.

Censorship is alive and well at Facebook. I first encountered their devotion to free speech when I criticized Toyota, and starting with a recent post targeting obscene living conditions in the military, Facebook's censorship has ratcheted up considerably.

Facebook doesn't necessarily block postings outright, so you need to be informed and vigilant to determine if you're in the crosshairs. Just because a post appears on Profile and Home pages doesn't mean the post appears publicly in real-time. To see what I'm talking about, after you've posted something (assuming you've set your submissions to appear publicly), search a keyword, click Public Posts, and see if your post appears. Unless Facebook is censoring, your post should be there by the time you navigate or else appear within seconds. The bigger picture is that these postings can also be searched in other venues, such as Openbook and Bing. If you're being censored from Facebook's real-time Public Posts, you're really being censored.

Facebook's latest round of censorship started with my 9/21/2011 post, "Soulja Boy's Army style language." Addressing the verbal garbage young people are exposed to in the military and pondering its relevance to instances of rape must have set off a five star alarm. Blam. The post was blocked from real-time Public Posts, and subsequent posts, regardless of the topic, have also been blocked.

The Soulja Boy post was more explosive than I realized.  A Google search revealed that it was embarrassingly relevant to the military's continuing epidemic of rape cases, involving both male and female victims. The situation was headlined in one article as the Army's "dirty secret."

So hey, Uncle Sam: I understand. The government's gotta be careful 'bout the truth gettin' out. Might make it difficult findin' fodder to fuel those imperialistic wars. After all, keepin' stuff quiet is how the land of the free managed to murder 58,000 of its own in the jungles of Vietnam.

Occupy Wall Street wins round one

In the midst of millions unemployed, unpopular wars, and plunging house prices, America's power structure - 'bout 1% of the population - is on edge. Nowhere has this been better evidenced than by the systematic oppression directed against folks from all walks of life who came together in New York City on 9/17/2011, declaring a dug-in-for-the-long-haul protest under the banner "Occupy Wall Street." A mainstream media blackout was thrown at 'em from the get go, and peaceful protesters were arrested, pepper sprayed, and thrown to the ground. But in this age of the Internet, social media exploded. News of the blackout, videos documenting the size of the protest, and shots of police misconduct spread like wildfire. One video even documented a cop attacking a protester for simply carrying a camera. Beaten at it own game, mainstream media limped in, conspicuously late to cover the event.

Fast forward a few weeks, and Occupy Wall Street has now elbowed its way into the international spotlight. With 99% of the planet facing ruin - financial and otherwise - at the hands of governments beholden to wealthy power brokers, the "occupy" theme is ushering in protests from New York to London. The hottest hashtags on Twitter are #OccupyWallStreet and #ows.

So round one - a battle for recognition - goes to the occupiers. The government's heavyhandedness backfired, further inflaming passions against bailed out banksters, imperialistic wars, and the corporate sponsored politicians of America's two headed one party electoral system. This past weekend there were sizeable protests in U.S. cities coast to coast, with New York drawing the biggest crowd yet.

Not bad for a freewheelin', off the cuff effort.

I'm especially pleased that so many of the occupiers have caught on to the fact that Demagogues and Repukes are equally beholden to "Wall Street," and anti-voting sentiment is makin' headlines. I quit voting years ago. Wouldn't it be great if this corrupt, warmongerin' government and its corporate cronies gave an election and nobody came?

Where was the outrage over Jason Tharp?

Oops. Just when the land of liberty and justice for all had its heart set on another sadistic spectacle of the death penalty, a jury ruins everything by declaring Casey Anthony not guilty.

Enter street protests, threats, a $100,000 lawsuit filed against the exonerated for lying, blabberings on social media websites, heated debates on talk shows, articles by the zillion, petitions for yet another law, and politicians introducing bills. Behavior ushered in by the televised theatrics of Nancy Grace and a mainstream media that followed her lead as soon as they saw her ratings skyrocket. ABC even jumped in with a $200,000 payment to Casey's parents for licensing rights.

Okay...

So where was the high profile media attention and public outcry over the whitewashed case of Marine recruit Jason Tharp? He was the teenager - known to be a poor swimmer and ill with a respiratory infection - who wanted out of the Marines and then drowned. Ordered to get in the water or be thrown in, Jason was surrounded by Marine swim instructors as he went under up to six times, screamed repeatedly to be let out of the pool, finally succumbed to exhaustion and coughed, gagged, or vomitted before bobbing to the surface unresponsive. At one point, a swim instructor shoved Jason's head deeper into the water. And talk about lying. The Marines initially claimed that Jason entered the water "voluntarily."

Where was mainstream media's blaring of these bloodcurdling facts? Where were the play-by-play howls from someone like Nancy Grace? And where, oh where, was the torn-to-tears, infuriated, obsessed-with-justice American public? I'm not sure which was more abhorrent: the way Jason died, or the cowardly silence after the investigative report was released.

I'm far from convinced that the jury got it right regarding Casey Anthony and the death of Caylee. Folks have been convicted on less evidence, and the whimsical nature of juries is one of many reasons I oppose the death penalty. But I won't be joining the national outrage. Considering a country willing to turn a deaf ear to the screams of Marine recruit Jason Tharp, there's way too much wrong with the picture.

Tharp case still makes me cry

I initially blogged about this case as it unfolded, then re-titled the blog and condensed my comments.

As far as I know, nothing has ever shut mainstream media up like the gang style savagery dished out to Marine recruit Jason Tharp, the teenager who wanted out of the military, then drowned during "training." Forced to tread water, Jason was surrounded by Marine swim instructors as he went under possibly six times, screamed repeatedly to be let out of the pool, finally succumbed to exhaustion and coughed, gagged, or vomited before bobbing to the surface unresponsive. At one point, a swim instructor shoved Jason's head deeper into the water.

Facts came to light only because NBC affiliate WIS-TV (a Columbia, S.C. station producing a series about the military) happened to videotape an instructor assaulting Jason on February 7, 2005 - approximately 24 hours before the next day's drowning - and turned their evidence over to authorities. The video prompted a brief spate of national media attention, but when the investigative report came out, it was hush up time in the land of the free. The Associated Press release - headlining Jason's death as "preventable," was an exercise in deceit, omitting the bloodcurdling facts and even getting it wrong regarding the videotaped assault. Jason was not merely "hit on his arm." In fact, the video is heart-wrenching, showing an emaciated teenager being yanked around and then knocked backward as he walks toward the WIS-TV camera crew - probably in a desperate attempt to get help. The tape does not include audio, and it was later revealed that Jason - a poor swimmer who had been diagnosed with a respiratory infection - was also being threatened with jail for refusing to get in the water. He had written home complaining of being singled out for harassment, and the day the drowning occurred, Jason was told to shut up and get in the water or be thrown in (the Marines lied, claiming Jason entered the water "voluntarily"). Jason's parents and his sister had been trying to persuade the Marines to discharge Jason, and when the Marines arrived at their home with news of Jason's death, the family thought they were going to be told that Jason would soon be back home.

The investigative report is almost beyond belief. Yet South Carolina's largest newspaper, the State, only found room for a tiny filler item giving trial testimony from the instructor in charge of the pool. He "heard screams but thought everything was normal."

To their ultimate discredit, WIS-TV declined to reveal the gruesome facts on their regular, televised newscasts, choosing instead to air an interview - conducted by the militarily well-connected Judi Gatson - that attempted to discuss this sordid affair in terms of a lapse in safety procedures. The interview - which omitted any reference to Jason's screams, etc. - was absolutely appalling. Are we really expected to believe that Marine swim instructors need underwater cameras to determine if a screaming recruit needs help?

Such barbarism perpetrated by a gang of civilian thugs would have been dutifully detailed and held up for public scrutiny. When investigators find - among other things - that Marine swim instructors need "guidance regarding first-aid for drowning victims," taxpayers have a right to know. Regarding media efforts to keep things quiet, I guess you could say this is one of those cases where a deafening silence spoke volumes.

But then again, Jason was just a poor kid. Had dreams of going to art school and enlisted hoping to help his parents with the expenses. Why should anyone in this good Christian country care anything at all about someone like Jason Tharp?

I'm sick and tired of America's damnable lies and deceit. If it isn't a full-fledged war based on false claims regarding weapons of mass destruction, it's one of our own - and his family - being treated worse than a dog, and a media-manipulated public too downright cowardly to say anything about it. Want national outrage? Burn a flag. Hurl a nonsensical remark at a basketball team, or give a celebrity a break on a misdemeanor rap.

The Tharp case makes a mockery of a free press and an informed electorate. The entire affair - including such niceties as America's "economic" draft - is a national disgrace so profound it should make anyone with normal sensibilities ashamed to be an American.

God bless the Tharps. When their son's case received its final coat of whitewash, Jason's mother tearfully told the military judge, "I hope you see Jason every time you turn around, and hear him screaming."

After I found out what happened to Jason, I sobbed. And this is one case that still makes me cry.

Only one media outlet gave a complete account of Jason's death:

I gave WIS-TV, the Associated Press, and the State newspaper an opportunity to reply to this post, but they declined.

Update 2/8/2015 - An ex-Marine has written an article, "Dying to Serve Your Country," which details how murderous the Marine Corps' "swim training" actually is. Especially interesting is Tim King's inability to find horrifying details anywhere on the Internet. As far as I can tell, any mainstream media references on the Internet to the investigative report's disclosure that the "swim instructor" shoved Jason Tharp's head deeper into the water as he struggled have now been removed, along with references to Jason coughing, gagging, or vomiting. America can stand most anything except the truth.

Update 9/10/2016 - Facts re this year's "suicide" of a Marine recruit who happened to be a Muslim confirms that recruits may indeed be singled out for exceptionally vicious treatment if not death. In this 2006 article - directly relevant to Raheel Siddiqui's "suicide" - retired Marine Sgt. Martin Smith exposes boot camp's racist, brainwashing environment:"Our hatred of the Arab 'other' was crafted from the very beginning of our training through fear and hate..." The article, aptly titled "Learning to be a Killer," is a powerful indictment of the society we live in. As Tim King states (see article 2/8/2015 update) "...Joining the Marines can be a death sentence well before combat."

Update 9/15/2016 - Siddiqui's family (see 9/10/2016 update) is disputing the Marine Corps' claim that their son committed suicide. We need an independent investigation into this matter, especially since the Marine Corps was caught lying about the circumstances surrounding the death of Jason Tharp, initially claiming Jason entered the water voluntarily.

Update 10/4/2016 - The Marine Corps has an incredibly scandalous history, but notice the Washington Post's article makes no mention of the Tharp case. Can anyone imagine why?

Update 11/7/2017 - I've published a post, "Siddiqui scandal: Amerika's military is a national disgrace"

Update 6/3/2019 - Looks like the atrocious environment in Amerika's thug goon military is coming home to roost. The U. S. (Unlimited Stupidity) Army was stupid enough to publish a tweet asking "How has serving impacted you?" Most of the thousands of responses were heartbreaking as "people used the opportunity that the Army had inadvertently given them to describe how they or their loved one had been chewed up and spit out by a war machine that never cared about them." Dr. Paul Craig Roberts sums it up well in the title to his reference to the article: "The Cost of Serving the Elite Who Rule the Dumbshit Americans." I loved Dr. Roberts' e-mail alert to this article. He wrote, "Go wave your flag, you dumbshit American."

Now I get it. Tharp was the victim of an enhanced training technique.

The CIA has given us to understand that forced simulation of drowning - along with a number of other practices - isn't torture. Its "waterboarding." Or better yet, its an "enhanced interrogation technique." I'm glad to know that.

Perhaps this also sheds some light on what happened to Jason Tharp, the teenager who wanted out of the military, then drowned during "training." Forced to tread water, Jason was surrounded by Marine swim instructors as he went under possibly six times, screamed repeatedly to be let out of the pool, finally succumbed to exhaustion and coughed, gagged, or vomitted before bobbing to the surface unresponsive.

Initially, I thought what happened to Jason was a study in sadism. Gang-style savagery, to be exact. Especially that part about the instructor shoving Jason's head deeper into the water. I'll bet some folks even thought it was cold-blooded murder. But after all this talk about enhanced interrogation techniques, I guess Jason was simply the victim of an enhanced training technique. Maybe this explains why the Associated Press and other mainstream media merely summarized Jason's death as "preventable," without bothering to mention all those horrifying details revealed in the investigative report.

America seems rather taken with the semantics - or antics - of euphemistical skullduggery. And I've given a lot of thought lately to George Orwell's 1984, especially the convoluted terminology known as "Newspeak." Frankly, that's been a bit unnerving. 'Cause the next thing you know, I'll be gettin' the sweet land of liberty confused with some kind of Orwellian nightmare...

Only one media outlet revealed the horrifying details contained in the investigative report:
